Meet Madeline — a Yale student, software engineer, and Kode With Klossy alum redefining how technology connects to culture and community. She first discovered coding by chance, applying to Kode With Klossy after her sister’s roommate shared the link. What started as a spontaneous summer turned into a career-defining experience — from building an Apple Watch app to support children with allergies to realizing that technology could be a tool for creativity, justice, and care. Now, Madeline’s work explores what she calls “technology futurism” — the idea that tech, when grounded in community, can uplift rather than extract. She’s spent the past year developing a virtual reality experience with the Yale School of Medicine that uses immersive storytelling to preserve Indigenous connections to the land, and she’s also designing AI tools for Native language preservation. Her projects center on reclaiming technology as a means of cultural continuity, belonging, and healing. Soon to begin her career as a software engineer at Google, Madeline hopes to use that experience to eventually launch a nonprofit supporting community-driven tech ventures. Her path — from a high schooler learning to code in a museum to an innovator bridging VR, AI, and Indigenous knowledge — reflects the spirit of Kode With Klossy: using curiosity and code to imagine a more inclusive, equitable future.
