Meet Kris — a 2021 scholar & 5 time IA
to the girl i was, am, and will be
salutations to the girl i was, am, and will be. salutations is a greeting of arrival and departure, a door opening and closing
swinging in motion, a pendulum without a beginning or end
just a tree bending in the wind, a token of time where this
epoch never ends, echoing freely, perhaps even forlornly
because this girl who i was, am, and will be are forever me.
salutations to the girl i was, am, and will be.

My name is Kris, and this is my fourth year with Kode with Klossy! I started KWK in the summer of 2021 as a Web Development scholar. I entered camp not sure if computer science was right for me, and honestly, KWK was my trial run to see if I enjoyed coding at all. That summer, my instructors and IAs immensely empowered me to realize my potential in engineering. From there, I was a KWK IA during summer of 2022 and then a IA/VCC in the summer of 2023. I took a little break in 2024, and in 2025, I’m so grateful to serve as an intern to be able to have a positive impact on other scholars’ lives.
My funnest fact is how I've been able to meet Lucy as a part of Kode with Klossy. She's one of the most talented programmers and designers I've met, and I'm so grateful to learn from her daily. Kode with Klossy truly is a community of learners, growers, and role models that empowers me daily.
If it wasn’t for KWK, I most likely wouldn’t be a CS major in university and be able to be a data structures and algorithms mentor in college. After jump starting my coding journey with KWK, I'm grateful to have been a software development engineer with Amazon and apply the problem solving skills I learned as a scholar!
