Code x Couture

Before Kode With Klossy, I didn’t know a single line of code—but I did know that I wanted to create, solve real problems, and make an impact. I just didn’t know tech could be the space where all of that came together—until KWK.

In two weeks, I went from being completely new to code to building something I was genuinely proud of. But what made the biggest difference wasn’t just what I learned—it was how I felt. I walked into that classroom unsure, and left with a new sense of possibility.

It was the first time I saw a tech space built for girls like me. A place where it was normal to ask questions, to dream big, and to fail forward. That environment stayed with me long after the camp ended.

The friends I made at KWK were the kind who cheered you on through every late-night bug and every tiny win. We still keep in touch—and they’re still some of the smartest, most driven people I know.

More than anything, KWK gave me a starting point—and the confidence to keep building from there. Not just in code, but in every space I walk into.

Priyanka shared a collection of poems she has written about her KWK experience, and its profound impact on her life. Read them below.

Origin Story - Priyanka J.

Before I ever wrote one line,
I didn’t know if tech was mine.
No coding background, just a start—
I showed up with an open heart.

Kode With Klossy cracked the door—
And whispered, You are so much more.
We built from scratch, we dreamed in script,
Each bug a bruise, each fix a lift.
That summer lit a fire in me,
Not just to code—but lead, to be.

At Georgia Tech, I found my stride—
Where data flows and systems guide.
Industrial Engineering shaped my lens,
To build, improve, and make amends.

But I didn’t stop with just one lane—
A CS minor joined the chain.
Because that spark from KWK
Still fuels the work I do today.

At L’Oréal, I broke some ground—
The only woman engineer around.
First woman of color in the co-op seat,
And still, I held my work on beat.
I traced how products come and go—
Forecasted trends, refined the flow.

At Apple, operations came alive,
Where strategy and systems thrive.
I mapped the flow, I made it lean—
Efficiency behind the screen.

With HP Ventures, I explored
How startups scale and ideas soared. In every pitch, in every deck,
I saw the space where I reflect.

Each step ahead, each path I trace,
Leads back to that empowering space.
Where girls with questions, hope, and drive
Were told: You belong. You will arrive.

So here’s to sparks and typing scared,
To showing up, with room to grow.
This is my origin, bold and free—
And it all began
with a screen,
a camp,
and finally,
me.

Hello, World. It's Me.

I walked in shy, unsure, unseen,
A girl with dreams and in-betweens.
A world of code, both vast and wide,
I held my breath and stepped inside.

Loops and lines, a foreign tongue,
But slowly, I found where I belonged.
With every “print,” a voice grew loud,
With every bug, I felt more proud.

We built with heart, we dreamed in script,
We crashed, we fixed, we never quit.
From strangers met to friendships born,
From timid sparks to passions sworn.

They said, “You can,” and I believed,
In all the things I could achieve.
I saw in code a kind of art—
A way to speak, to share my heart.

Now I write apps, I lead, I teach,
With goals that once felt out of reach.
And in each girl who starts her quest,
I see the fire within my chest.

So thank you, KWK, for the light,
For showing me I had the right
To dream in lines and think in loops—
To lead, to change, to grow, to move.

The world is big, but now I see:
It all began with “Hello, World,”
and ended with

Hello, me.
