I started KWK as a 13 year old with my first camp being app dev. I got to do camp with my sister, and I had the best time ever. My IA, Kamryn Ohly, was someone I looked up to— she started camp at 13 too, went to Harvard, and just generally knew everything there was to XCode. I had the best time that summer and was determined to do it all over again. I got one of my friends from school to send in an application, and we got to do summer 2023 camp together! That year, I built the final project I was most proud of: Sustainimal. It was a website designed to spread awareness of animal cruelty in the cosmetics industry, as well as provide cruelty free beauty product suggestions. Animal cruelty is a topic I’m very passionate about, so this project truly meant a lot to me. This past summer I completed my 3rd year, with my first camp online. It proved that KWK was able to maintain their sense of community, even online, and it was definitely comparable to my first 2 years of in person camp.

I’ve taken 2 more classes in computer science in school. I’ve grown my summer 2023 final project further than its MVP. I now work for KWK as a community ambassador! KWK has truly done so much in influencing my future and guiding me along the way.
